Welcome to Dalyan

Welcome to Dalyan #01It is impossible to ignore the beauty of Dalyan's unique environment; the beach, lake, river and mountains provide a stunning natural setting for every holiday activity. There are many highlights. Dalyans' genuine Turkish hospitality is arguably best appreciated over a leisurely drink at a riverfront bar or restaurant, while it is impossible to tire of the magical boat ride to Iztuzu beach. While being an ideal environment for relaxing, the local area offers so much more; walks, bike rides, boat trips, ancient ruins, scuba diving, parascending and jeep safaris. Welcome to Dalyan!

Welcome to Dalyan #02

Dalyan River

Dalyan lies within a national conservation area with unspoilt natural beauty and offers friendly Turkish hospitality. It is a unique place, situated on the river channel that links the vast and serene Koycegiz Lake with the stunning Iztuzu beach and is surrounded by pine-clad mountains, cotton fields and bulrushes.

Welcome to Dalyan #03The river provides the heartbeat to the village. It is lined with cafes and restaurants and the boats that moor in the harbour offer trips to all the local sights.

Welcome to Dalyan #04

Iztuzu Beach

Arguably Turkey’s most scenic natural beach, 5km long and with shallow turquoise waters. The beach is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea on one side and the Dalyan lagoon on the other. To protect the endangered Loggerhead Turtle who use Iztuzu as a nesting ground, no development has been allowed along the beach.

Welcome to Dalyan #05Access to the beach is by "water boat", an idyllic 20 minutes journey past the ancient rock tombs, or a scenic 15 minute ride by dolmus (local bus).

Welcome to Dalyan #06

Caunos

The ruins of the ancient city of Caunos date from 3000 BC and among the ruins is a 5000 seat ampitheatre and a stunning series of Lycian rock tombs.

Welcome to Dalyan #07Caunos is a short hop across the river from Dalyan Harbour. From the ruins there are stunning views across the Dalyan delta towards Iztuzu beach.

Welcome to Dalyan #08

Lake Koycegiz

The tranquil waters of Lake Koycegiz are a birdwatchers paradise. Hiring a boat or paddling in a canoe among the reedbeds provides an opportunity to experience the lake’s calm environment. We would also recommend a boat trip to the far end of the lake to visit the local market at Koycegiz town.

Welcome to Dalyan #09

Mud Baths and Thermal Springs

Up river you can visit the mud baths and the historic Sultanye thermal springs reputed to be good for the skin and general health. We recommend visiting the baths early in the morning or late in the afternoon by boat from Dalyan.

Eating, Drinking and Shopping

There are a vast selection of bars, cafe's & restaurants in Dalyan serving both traditional Turkish cuisine and European dishes, a number of which line the riverfront and overlook the rock tombs at Caunos which are illuminated at night.

Dalyan market is held in the main square every Saturday, while the main street offers a range of small shops, many selling local arts and crafts. There is a larger Migros supermarket located on the route from Yasemin Evi to the village centre.
